Legion Lake Trail

This mile-long loop winds through the peaceful pine forest of Custer State Park and offers hikers the numerous views of tranquil Legion Lake and its rock formations. Legion Lake Trail is a great opportunity with its location right off the highway to for families and travelers to stop, grab some drinks and stretch out the legs. The trail only takes 20 or so minutes. Legion Lake is also popular with the park’s wildlife and buffalo are very often spotted in the area.
Parking is located at Legion Lake Resort. To access the trail, cross Highway 16A and continue all the way through Legion Lake Campground to the trailhead which is near 11E.
