Museum of Visual Materials

The Museum of Visual Materials, located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is a museum unlike any other.  Housed in one of the oldest buildings in downtown Sioux Falls, the Museum of Visual Materials is dedicated to experiencing the fives senses.

Visitors to the Museum of Visual Materials can choose from a multitude of exhibits and experiences.There are sewing machines, along with fabrics, thread and buttons that can be used to create whatever visitors choose, for free. There is also a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen used for cooking demonstration and venue rentals, as well as a sound proof listening room where visitors can enjoy the museum’s collection of vinyl records and 8-tracks. 

If books are more your speed, the museum boasts a collection of over 4,500 books, on a wide variety of topics such as cooking, religion, science, gardening, and many others.  You can also learn the history of the museum, and see a hand-made clock and learn how it runs on gravity.

Unique among museums, Sioux Falls’  Museum of Visual Materials will surprise and amuse visitors.
