Anyone who has driven past a verdant cornfield, or spotted a field full of grazing cows knows that agriculture is essential to the South Dakota way of life. The South Dakota State Agricultural Heritage Museum is dedicated to preserving this rich agricultural history and and rural heritage.
The Agricultural Heritage Museum includes unique exhibits like a tractor and farm equipment, an original 1882 homestead claim shack, and a recreated 1915 farmhouse. Historic photographs will transport visitors back to South Dakota’s roots and history, and researchers can peruse the Beckman Archive’s extensive collection of tractor and machinery manuals. Kids can test their academic prowess with reading, math, and other tests that date back to 1928.
The museum is located in Brookings, South Dakota, and free admission makes the Agricultural Heritage Museum a must-see attraction!
