The Charles Murtha House is a two-story, triple-walled brick house completed in 1892 for Charles Murtha, a pioneer of Union County and an early City Officer for the City of Elk Point. In 2013 the house and property was purchased by the Union County Historical Society. It houses a vast collection of historical acquisitions from throughout Union County and southeastern South Dakota. Museum hours are 1-4 p.m., Wednesday-Sunday (closed Monday and Tuesday). Appointments can be scheduled by phone.
