An afternoon at Falls Park in Sioux Falls

Following the addition of a newborn to our family earlier this month, my wife and young daughter and I were feeling a little stir crazy. We needed some time outside and away from our house, and we decided to load up the family for a quick afternoon trip to Falls Park in Sioux Falls. 

I love going to the falls, because they’re never exactly the same from visit to visit. The look and sound of the falls varies with the amount of water flowing down the Big Sioux River and with the temperature (in winter, interesting ice formations take shape).

Lately, South Dakota has been enjoying a nice run of 70-80 degree days with sunshine and light breezes. The mosquito population has drastically decreased because it’s been dry and because overnight lows have been dipping into the low 50s and even 40s. It’s the absolute best time of the year to be outdoors in our state.
